You already have four writing modes including fountain pen, rollerball, ballpoint, and porous tip or fiber tip. The Parker 5th introduces a new writing mode which is a combination of and extension of previous writing technologies in a convenient disposable and replaceable cartridge.

Parker 5th Technology cartridges provide a smudge-free, smooth, fluid, and precise writing experience with the added benefit of long cap-off times without drying out. The refill flexes with pressure from your writing style and has support from the metal tip/hood which looks like a fountain pen. You get the classic look of a fine fountain pen with the ease of use of a rollerball or a porous tip pen!

With this new technology you will have a consistant writing experience. Heavy handed writers will not have the tip push in and have leaks, while the light handed won't experience a lack of fluidity in ink delivery. The tip is made of polyoxymethylene, an engineering thermoplastic used in precision parts that require high stiffness, low friction, and excellent dimensional stability.
